Woodpigeon Releases New Album and Christmas Music

Posted on 15 December 2009 by Brian

Woodpigeon has toured Europe so extensively over the past couple of years that the band hasn’t played more than a handful of shows at home in Canada.  And so we‘re very, very pleased to announce Canadian tour dates including record release celebrations in Vancouver and Calgary in support Die Stadt Muzikanten, out January 12 in Canada.  In addition, Die Stadt Muzikanten will include a bonus album recorded with Howard Bilerman, Steve Albini and Husky Hoskulds; 12 new songs entitled BALLADEER / to all the guys i’ve loved before.

There’s still time to pre-order Die Stadt Muzikanten here, and if you do you’ll not only get the album by January 12, but you’ll also get acoustic versions of each song.

Here are free downloads of the album-track “Empty-Hall Sing-Along”, and to celebrate the holiday season, “xoxmas”.

D.Y.I Rock – Young Rival EP

Posted on 04 August 2009 by Brian

Hamilton-based “Young Rival” who have taken matters into their own hands, presented us with their self-titled, self-released EP in late 2008. With an upcoming Canadian tour scheduled set to test the songs on their fans, success is inevitable. Known for their excellent and, from time to time, surprising stage show, Young Rival actually recorded this EP in a high-ceiling room with microphones scattered throughout to capture their live energy and big sound.

The lead off single “Your Island” featured itself as high as #2 on CBC Radio 3’s weekly countdown, and the video for that song also saw light rotation on Canada’s MuchMusic.
