Jacob Moon. Wow. I knew I’d heard the name before. This isn’t the typical genre of music playing on my ipod but the second it came on, the ambient guitar gave me a dreamy feel. The performance is passionate and the lyrics are well written with imagery and a sense of urgency. I love it. I’m going to check out more of Jacob’s stuff immediately. Good on you, Jacob!

I was wondering if this was in fact Peter Gabriel’s song. It’s one of my favorites of his, and this is great job done covering it! The tapping style (which I’m a big fan of) is really well executed, and I like the blend of acoustic and electric. We don’t even miss the girl harmony part, as the lead vocals integrate it well. Good live sound too. I’d be curious to hear this artist’s original material. now. =)

Tyler M – Ugly Heart MP3 | Tyler M Website |

This is fun. Takes me back to my garage band days. (And that’s a long way back my friends). Earnest yelling, sometimes in tune but mostly strangled, just how it should be to get across the angst-y situation of dealing with an ugly heart. Starts out just voice and guitar a la Billy Bragg, and moves quickly into standard rock stuff (from Hives to whoever), albeit played competently. But the magic happens as it builds and builds right to the end with no let up. Give that singer a Fisherman’s Friend and wash it down with a well earned beer. Visions of sweaty high school gyms. Tyler M. is keeping the spirit of rock and roll alive. Extra points for that last note.
