I’ve always thought of the term ‘indie’ as being independent of a record label – artists taking their career into the their own hands. Gone are the days when A&R guys would discover some rock band in a local bar. Nowadays artists are building their own fan following, booking their own gigs, gaining exposure and by doing this they don’t really need the record label – the middle men – anymore. They’re indie artists. |
