December 2009 – our second of our International Track of The Month series.
The Aviation Orange is an indie synth-rock band out of Brooklyn and is comprised of five members; Mike Nesci – Lead Vox/Guitar, Hana Mogulescu – Synth Keyboards/Vox, Alex Beninato – Guitar/Vox, Josh Harris – Drums and Ben Shesta – Bass. Their sound is a great mixture of synth, male and female vocals and catchy guitar riffs. They have garnered some great attention surrounding their live shows, not surprisingly as is usually the case surrounding their atmospheric and synth-y sound. Though this is not the first band to perform and play music in this genre ( see The Cure, New Order, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Echo & the Bunnymen etc etc), they manage to maintain some healthy differences and set their sound apart in a unique manner.
Another notable achievement is the fact that their debut music video for their track “Radio” reached the Top 5 most popular videos on MTVU.COM.
The band has received some great press from their debut LP release which was released back in July.
