Rob Fillo is a well known musician in Vancouver and also happens to chair the board for the Vancouver Artists’ Collective Association. His recent record Angel of Victory was produced, recorded, engineered, mixed and mastered by himself in his own private studio in Richmond, BC. Rob named the album after the statue, by Couer de Lion MacCarthy, which can be found at Waterfront Station in Vancouver. Angel of Victory is a follow-up to the CD Cold Winter Drafts, which was released in 2006.
This rock album has some good stylistic diversity, great melody throughout and clear vocals paired with mature songwriting. Partner that up with great instrumentation and production and you have a solid rock album. You will find some songs strongly guitar laden, while finding others toying with a doumbek drum and jazz flute. There are some definitive similarities of Rob’s vocals stylistically to Eddie Vedder.
