	The term Indie seems to have many meanings or purposes depending on who you are and what you read. Because of this, we all seem to have a hard time pinning it down. I use it fairly loosely, as a descriptor for such things as; DIY artists, musicians not on a major, smaller record labels (even if they are part of a major), and to describe a bands sound. I like the idea that it pertains to artists and musicians working hard and doing everything themselves. There is something appealing to that down to earth, honest, difficult path to being a successful musician. I also use it to describe a certain style of music, but I think that is a completely different meaning than the DIY, Indie artist. So, in my opinion, I think the term “Indie” has two completely different meanings, 1. a style of music and 2. DIY musicians/musicians not on a major.
